Not something most people like or enjoy. You may be someone who packs day of, 2 hours before your flight and shoving things into your bag as you sprint out the door. You may be a habitual overpacker (cough cough mom and gramma) who is absolutely positive you need 10 pairs of trousers and double that number of tops for a 5 day trip. Personally, I’m a reformed overpacker. I’ve come to love, revere, and respect packing lists, and I’ve learned how to live out of a 40L backpack for 2.5 months. It’s safe to say that packing is one of my favorite parts of preparing for a trip.

I suggest you sit down, grab a cup of tea or coffee, and settle in for my ULTIMATE under 10kg packing list. There’s one thing to note before we fully dive in; for one, I fly budget airlines regularly, so that typically means I have a 10kg weight limit for my carry-on bag, which I know most people probably won’t have to worry about. An unintended positive to that is only having 22lbs worth of stuff to lug around my destination! #backpackerlife

Method to my Madness

Depending on the trip, I’ll sometimes have my daybag packed and carry that around on my front. This time around, I’m leaving that empty and packed away in my main bag, and I’ll have my bum bag around my waist for all my necessities.

Inside my daybag/bum bag:

  • Neck pillow
  • Eyemask
  • WetOnes
  • Clorox Wipes
  • Money (in this case, I have a bag full of leftover Euros)
  • Passport
  • Phone
  • Portable charging brick (I swear by RAVPower)
  • Sunglasses
  • Scrunchies and hairties
  • Miscellaneous snax (#snackqueen)
